Holiday Pudding

2 Cups flour
2 Cups sugar
2 Tsp. baking soda
3 eggs
4 Tblsp. melted butter
1 can cherry pie filling
1 cup chopped pecans

Sift together flour, sugar, and baking soda.  Beat eggs & melted butter.  Add to dry ingredients.  Mix well.

Stir in pie filling and nuts.  Blend well.

Bake in greased 9" X 13" pan at 350F for 35 to 40 minutes.

While cake is baking, prepare topping during the last 10 minuts.

Topping:

¾ cup white sugar
½ cup milk
½ cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Bring sugar, milk and butter to boil in a saucepan.  Remove from heat and add vanilla.  Pour onto cake while cake is still warm.  Use a toothpick to make holes in the cake.  It will seem like a lot of sauce but use it all, allowing it to soak in a bit before continuing to add.
