The Canadian Women's Club of Atlanta Story

The Canadian Women's Club of Atlanta was established in 1974 as a non-profit social club to provide a venue where women with the common thread of a Canadian background could meet, chat, reminisce, and explore their new country.

Our members are women with Canadian connections:  they are Canadian born, of Canadian ancestry, naturalized Canadians, or married or formerly married to a Canadian.  We maintain ties to the Canadian Consulate, the Canadian American Society of the Southeastern United States, and the McGill University Alumni Association of Atlanta, all located here in Atlanta.

Today, the club has members who have lived in the Atlanta area for times varying from a few months to over 30 years.  Some are here on visas, some hold "green cards", and some are now US citizens.  Regardless of the time they have lived here, though, they all have ties to Canada and enjoy getting together to keep the Maple Leaf alive in their hearts.

Our Club members are involved in a variety of activities outside of the the Club.  They support many worthy groups such as:

  • The Atlanta Terry Fox Run
  • The Juvenile Diabetes Foundation,
  • Hughes Spalding Children's Hospital and
  • Imperial Daughters of the British Empire, to name only a few.

Club Activities:

Meetings:
Monthly luncheon meeting are held on the third Wednesday from September through May.  The December meeting is held the Wednesday of Festival of Trees week.

Meetings are held at various places of interest in the Atlanta area (fees vary according to location, and are published in the Club's newsletter) or in a member's home for special meeting topics.  The in-home meeting fee is $8.00, which includes lunch.

Specially- themed meetings allow members to share not only their pet community service, but also their personal interests or profession.

Evening and weekend events will also be held at various times throughout the year.  These events will allow our families to meet and socialize.

Annual Reception:
Each year, the Club co-hosts an evening reception for members, their spouses/partners, and Consular staff at the official residence of the Canadian Consul General in Atlanta.  The cost of this event is covered in the annual membership fee.

Special Events:
The Club is involved with a variety of special events.  Click here for more information.

We know that leaving our home, country, family and friends can impact us in varying degrees, and we would like to make the transition easier by offering our support.  E-mail us and someone will contact you.
